Hi! My name is Ray. I am a super loving and playful, 2 ½ year-old, neutered male, Lab mix! I am very smart, very silly, and very affectionate. My family is moving to a smaller house in another part of the country, and wants to find a new, loving home for me.

Things to know about me...I absolutely love chasing Frisbees! I can run and play all day, if you like! I love going for walks and runs, being petted (belly rubs and neck scratches are the best!), playing at the dog park, and cuddling up for a nice, long snooze.

My mom says I’m really smart and would be a great agility dog because I learn so quickly. I know where I’m allowed to go in the house and where it's "a doggy free zone." I love going for car rides and I’m happily trained to an Invisible Fence. I do a lot of very playful and silly things! I will do anything to catch a Frisbee including sliding across the yard on my stomach! I’m great with other dogs. In fact the neighbor dogs always visit me when they escape from their yards! I love mouth wrestling with them and taking turns chasing each other. I’m not good with birds and small animals because I have a very strong prey instinct.

I am being clicker trained for loose-lead walking and am learning all sorts of commands like Sit, Down, Leave It, Come, and Stay. In the past, I have been very scared of strangers and very young kids, so my family is using the clicker training to retrain me into seeing that strangers are a positive thing. I'm getting more relaxed, but fears like these take time to get over, so I am looking for a great new adopter who will continue this process, and be patient and understanding. I get along very well with elementary-age and teenage kids!!

My ideal home is with someone who is energetic and would like a companion. I would love a home with a friendly, playful dog, and where jogs, hikes, and outdoor play will be a part of my day.. I have a fun-loving and happy personality, and hope for a family with the same! I also hope to be taken to dog training and agility classes, as I am very smart and definitely enjoy learning! I am very unhappy in a crate, but since I am housebroken and not destructive when left alone, there is really no need for me to be in a crate...whew!!

If you think you might like to adopt me, please fill out an adoption application and the rescue folks will pass it on to my mom. She'll be in touch!!

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
