Tess Has Been Adopted!

Hi! My name is Tess, and I am an extremely friendly, affectionate, fun-loving and happy, 1 year-old. 35-pound, spayed female Smooth Fox Terrier/Australian Cattle Dog mix!! I was rescued from a high-kill shelter around the KY/OH border and I am overjoyed to be in a fabulous CDR foster home!

Some things to know about me are 1) I love people very much, 2) I love playing with other dogs very much, 3) I love giving kisses and cuddling, 4) I am smart and love to learn things, and 5) can't wait to find my forever home!

I'm in foster care with a fabulous mom and dad, 3 other dogs and a bunch of cats, and we all get along beautifully. My foster parents are teaching me lots of things...I know sit, shake and down, and they are helping me with housebreaking and crate training. No one had ever taught me anything before, so I am so happy and grateful.

I love it best when my foster parents cradle me on their lap or in their legs and pet me and rub my belly...I really know that I have been transported to heaven at those times. As you can see in my last photo, one of my silly tricks is that I stand on my hind legs and beg! My foster mom and dad say this is ultra cute. They also want you to know that I am very eager to please and very happy to be taught things. They think I would be really glad to be taken to a positive dog training class, and maybe do agility after that!

Since I was given so little training in the past, I have a great interest in catching up! Since 2 of the dogs in my foster home go to doggy daycare at Canine Comfort, I am starting to go there once a week now too! (my tuition is a gift of the daycare owner, she is sooo nice!). I had my "interview" with the owner the other day and she said I was a super fabulous dog and that I was welcome to come. :)

I am good walking on leash (with a Sensible or Easy Walk Harness, that is) and enjoy walks, hikes, runs, and wading in streams. I am very excited to find a home with nice, caring, folks who either have another dog, or would like to take me to the dogpark or on doggy playdates, and who will take me to training classes so I can keep learning.

I am healthy, up to date on vaccines, and waiting for you!! If you think you might like to adopt me, please read about the adoption process today and live EITHER within 30 minutes of Ithaca OR very close to Syracuse, Binghamton, or Owego. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
