Hi! My name is Apache, and you'll notice me right away when you come to visit the shelter. I am a quiet, friendly girl with big, sad eyes, and a heart filled with love, who wants to get to know you right away. I am a golden retriever mix with a beautiful cream colored coat who just loves attention. I am 6 years and 11 months. My owner was very careful to see that I had regular vet visits and was well taken care of. If you think you have the time to spend with me and are able to nurse me back to health, you won't be disappointed. You'll have a best friend for life.
Since Christmas, I have had a very tough life. My owner died and I was taken with my other six pack mates to a great shelter. I am sad here and missing my home and my pals. We usually ate together, so I am not so sure about eating by myself. When I went to the vets, my friend was there and I was so excited I ate right alongside her.
When I got to the shelter, I was limping and the nice folks took me right away to the vets. I found out I have a torn cruciate in my back leg which needs surgery. My owner loved all the dogs very much and left money for our care in the will, but may take a few months to settle. In the mean time, the estimated costs for my surgery start at 1700. The vet says I am overweight and need to lose quite a few pounds before I can have the surgery I need. I am patient hopping around, but I would really like to get back to walking normally and having fun.
Due to my circumstances, it is unknown if I am house trained, have ever been around children, like meeting new dogs or have been to obedience school, etc. but I promise to try my best if I come home with you. My name is Apache, but a more appropriate name for me is Sweet Honey Girl to match my personality. I love to be petted so if you are looking for a dog to love and can open your heart to me, you won't be disappointed.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children. If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
