Tyler Has Been Adopted!

Hi! My name is Tyler, and I am a super good boy! I am about 4 years old, and am a smart, loving, very good-natured and friendly, neutered male Black Lab/Setter mix.

I am wonderfully easygoing and calm in the house, but if you like to do outdoor sports (hike, brisk walk, ski), I am agile and athletic and I love to do things outside! I'm a very loving guy, I love attention and affection and hanging out with people. When you look at me or call me, my tail goes all to wagging and I seem so happy that you noticed me! I love being in physical contact with you (like my head in your lap, or better yet, my whole body in your lap!), and love belly rubs (even more so if i get to lay in your lap while you give me one). I'm not a clingy "Velcro" dog though, despite how affectionate I am, and I spend time off on my own sniffing around in the fenced yard or laying in wait for the squirrels!

I am great with other dogs; the rescue folks say that I have impeccable dog-dog social skills. I'm very patient with other dogs' quirkiness and am naturally kind; I seem to find a way to make any type of dog feel safe and comfortable with me. I'm sorry to say that while I find cats fascinating, I have a penchant for chasing them, and therefore need to be in a home without cats. Speaking of chasing, I do like to chase balls, though I need some work on the whole "bringing it back to you" idea. I am fantastic in the car, and find it endlessly fascinating to look out the window. I'm also what they call a "trainer's dream dog", because not only am I smart and interested in learning, I also LOVE treats (cheese is the best!) and will do just about anything to get some! If you were interested in taking me to training and agility classes, I'd probably be one of the stars!

I came into rescue somewhat underweight, so my foster mom is doing her best to put some more meat on my bones. Other than that, I'm a very healthy boy, am housebroken, and can't wait to find out who my forever family is going to be! If you think you might like to adopt me, please fill out an adoption application and live EITHER within 30 minutes of Ithaca OR very close to Syracuse, Binghamton, or Owego. We do home visits on every applicant, and can't do home visits where we don't have local volunteers.

Because of the high rate of accidents between dogs and young children, we rarely adopt out our dogs or puppies into homes with young children.  If you think your particular situation might warrant an exception, please feel free to inquire with us.
