Linus

****Linus is not in the CDR foster program, and has not been evaluated by CDR. This is a courtesy posting for Linus' current family, who will make all decisions about his adoption.***

Hi!  My name is Linus, and I am a super friendly and adorable 8- month old, 17-pound, neutered male Yorkie/Bichon (they call us "Yo-chons") mix!  I love people, loving playing with them, being with them, and watching all of the interesting things that they do.

I have lots of terrific puppy energy and I enjoy chasing balls, catching frisbees (really!), and playing tug of war.  I can run very fast!  My current family thinks it's hysterical when I zip around the living room, dining room or yard on my little legs, having such a blast.  I also love to go for walks (I must be on leash!) and I go to the Ithaca dog park frequently and enjoy playing with the other dogs.

I enjoy all ages of people, I get along well with small children, and I love giving away "kisses".  My human niece is 6 years old and lives with us half the time and I am really good with her.  I am also good and very playful with other dogs but we're not sure about me and cats since I have not been around them.  Since I currently live in the country, there are lots of squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits and even raccoons (they come on the deck to get the bird food) and I just look at them, but don't bark.  Recently, though, we had a big black bear come on our deck for the birdseed, and I did bark and jump wildly, then broke through our kitchen screen and chased the bear off our yard and into the woods until he was gone!  Does that make me quite a little hero or what?  Aw, shucks!

When I was 3 months old, I got to go to Cornell doggie kindergarten for 8 weeks and I did real well, even though I was the youngest pup there.  I can sit, lie down, stay, wait for food, wait at the door, and shake hands when commanded.  I am crate trained and I stay in a larger crate at night time and during the day and a smaller one when in the car.  I am great in the car--I don't bark and I usually just lie down and sleep.

I am up to date on shots and was neutered last month.  I'm very healthy!  I pretty much fully housebroken, as
long as you are around to let me out at regular intervals.  I can now make it through a whole night (9+hours!) without needing to go out to potty!

I love when my family plays with me and my toys and tug of war, and sometimes I gnaw or play-nip on their hands. They are doing a good job reminding me that this is ok to do with other dogs, but not with people!  I need a little more work on this, but I know I'll get it!

So, this brings me to why I need a new home. I have a terrific mom and a great extended family of people, but my mom's job and living circumstances are about to change, and I will end up having to be alone for way too much of the time while she is at work.  She loves me a lot, but knows I will be unhappy with so much aloneness, since what I love best is interacting with people.  It's very hard for her, but she is doing the loving thing by seeking another home for me, where I will get more attention and play and walks and just good time together than she will be able to provide.

We are looking for a new home with people who really love me and will take great care of me.  If I get lots of attention and play and walks and play-dates with other doggies (or at the dog park), I will be so happy and will be the greatest companion for you!  I would absolutely love it if there was another friendly, playful dog in my new adoptive home!!  I am very loving and I really want to please my people and be with them wherever they are.

If you are interested in me, please fill out an adoption application today and the rescue folks will forward it
onto my momma who is in charge of all decisions concerning my new home.

Thanks so much for your interest!!
